APHA's Annual Meeting & Awards
January 27, 2007
New York Public Library, NYC

Sara Stone, Ray Nichols, and Jill Cypher represented the Chesapeake Chapter.

The events started with a business meeting and from all the information APHA is in very good shape financially. The one point that seemed to jump out is that with all of the interest in letterpress that is going on we should have more members nationally and surely we should have more members to the Chesapeake chapter.

The business meeting was followed with a presentation of the APHA Individual Award to Michael Twyman, the major historian of lighography in our time, and the author of numerous books and articles on typography, printing and graphic communication.

The APHA Institutional Award followed to The Society of Printers, Patricia Peterson, President, who accepted for the Boston-based association whose moto, "For the Study and Advancement of the Art of Printing," is exemplified by a century-long record of exhibitions, lectures, and publications on "the art preservative of all arts."

Russell Maret produced a nice broadside for the occasion.
