Lenore Rouse
Curator, Rare Books & Special Collections
The Catholic University of America
Lenore Rouse, Curator of the department of Rare Books & Special Collections at The Catholic University of America, has worked in the rare books field for over 20 years. She has studied bookbinding and now seeks to learn more about letterpress as a means to understanding the production of books in previous centuries, and in hopes of inspiring students to take up a craft which is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. Through the generosity of a donor and the logistical assistance of the Chesapeake Chapter, Lenore recently added a Golding Pearl 7 x 11 and a dozen cases of type to the department’s collection and currently devotes her spare time to making this a working press.
