The Atelier Press
The Atelier Press was established in 1970 and is located in Ellicott City, Maryland
The Atelier Press was the outgrowth of a lifelong interest in printing. The focus is printing fine books and the creation of fresh, new typographic material. The Press has its own type foundry, a 12 x 18 Chandler & Price platen press, and a Vandercook SP-20 proof press. There are approximately 75 cases of type
Mothers & Babies, hardcover book by Stan Nelson of The Atelier Press, type cast in 18 point Felicity, 14 point Perpetua and display type ATF Civilite by James Walczak and handset by Stan Nelson, printed on Nideggen mould made paper in three inks on a Vandercook SP-20 by Raymond Nelson, illustrations by Stan Nelson (ink drawings photoengraved and printed on tint blocks in four impressions to cover), bound by Campbell Logan Binders, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 6.5” x 10”, 2007.
