The Birdhouse Press
The Birdhouse Press was established around 1995 and is located in Springfield, Virginia. The press is a hobby press developed from Nancy’s graphic arts background and John’s interest in wood engraving. Our collection started with a tabletop Kelsey and a few drawers of metal type. Over the years a couple more tabletop presses have come and gone. We graduated from these to larger presses.
Currently our main presses include a Vandercook SP-15, three Chandler and Price presses (including an 8 x 12, a 7 x 11, and a Pilot), a Poco Proof Press and an Albion iron hand press. Over the years we have also added to our collection of metal and wood type.
Letterpress has given us many hours of pleasure and the opportunity to meet the community of letterpress people.
