Bill Deering
Atelier Press at the Schoonover Studios
Atelier Press at the Schoonover Studios was established in 2003 and is located in Wilmington, Delaware.
Frank Schoonover moved into his Wilmington studio #1 on March 8, 1906, and would paint and teach here until his death in 1972. During that time he executed over twenty two hundred illustrations. Today the four studios serve as a memorial to his remarkable career, complete with many of his paintings and drawings, ephemera, illustrated books, and memorabilia. All the studios are privately owned and studio #4 has been the home of William Deering Photography since 1994, and Atelier Press since 2003.
The focus of Atelier Press at the Schoonover Studios is experimentation embracing collage with type and image. Presses include a Vandercook 219 and a 20” x 30” Washington iron hand press with access to approximately 800 cases of metal and wood type.
